what are sound barriers?
Author: admin Category: Uncategorizedcan some give me a website on what sound barriers are and stuff like that. 10 easy points!
The sound barrier is nothing physical- it’s just a definition. It’s the speed of sound in a material, which is the average speed of the molecules in that material. It is different depending on what material you’re talking about. So for air, the sound barrier/speed of sound is 343 m/s at sea level. I say at sea level because the speed of sound in a gas or liquid will change when the pressure changes, but you probably don’t have to worry about that. The sound barrier in steel is many times larger than that, mean that sound travels much faster in steel than it does in air. When you break the sound barrier, you create a sonic boom.
Hope this helps
