Has a piston-powered aircraft ever broke the sound barrier under it’s own power?

Excluding dives, has a piston-powered aircraft ever broke the sound barrier under it’s own power?
I know propellers will stall out before reaching Mach 1, but how about a ducted fan?

From an earlier question, i was informed most of the power from a turbofan is produced from the fan. So therefore it should be possible to reach Mach 1 in a piston-powered aircraft using ducted fans, correct?

With the exception of the latest generation of fighters, supersonic aircraft require afterburners to exceed Mach 1. They do not rely solely on the thrust of the turbofan. Even those latest fighters capable of "super cruise" use afterburners while transonic.

Aircraft propulsion systems all have a common limitation: they can not propel a plane faster that they move air backwards. Turbofans are more efficient than turbojets because they take a larger volume of air but accelerate that air less than a turbojet. That limits the top end speed of a fan - no matter what powers the fan.

Moving into my first apartment … what if I make too much noise?

Author: admin Category: Home Studio Soundproofing

I really love listening to music. I don’t play it overly loud, but I play it so that I can hear it throughout a few of the rooms in my house. I am now in the process of moving outta my parents home and into my first apartment (studio) … and was wondering if I could play music without disturbing people. Are apartments kinda soundproofed at all? Do people play music/tv in their small apartments?
Thanks a bundle! :)
x

Sound proofing goes with quality. If you rent high end you will have more of it, cheaper means cheaper walls too.

You will be evicted if someone complains and it happens again.

You should try ear phones.

how make a homemade noise reduction headphone?

Author: admin Category: Noise Reduction

hi friends please tell how to make a homemade noise reduction headphone? my house is near a busy road so much noise you cant focus yourself! so can you tell how make a non electrical(non noise canceling) headphones?
sorry i need noise reduction headphones

If you want noise reduction ear protection, go with a standard, inexpensive Peltor set with -29 db noise reduction. They sell same thing with radio or stereo input for more money, but these work well. If you need more noise reduction, combine the Peltor muffs with sponge foam ear plugs…for near total silence.

If your background noise is a continuous drone from a motor, jet engine…any noise like that, the Bose noise canceling phones work great..but they’re expensive and don’t work well with intermittent noises like a jack hammer or a dog barking.

Home recording studio? Soundproofing & Software?

Author: admin Category: Home Studio Soundproofing

Okay, so I’ve always wanted to make music, & now I really want to record some stuff.
I have no room in the house that is fit for a recording room, so i plan on building a little thing & to soundproof it. I also need a good mic, & recording software. I don’t have much money, so my budget isn’t to high.
So tips for my room, soundproofing prices? & what is good recording software? also a good mic?
The mic is mainly going to be used for vocals & the recording doesn’t have to include instrumental software (my friends does) thanks in advance guys!

PS.
if you have hip hop (not hardcore rap!) instrumentals, hit me up.
or if you have good lyrics & want to feature.

PPS.
I also i want an affordable HD camera good for blogging & all that :p

datpiff.com has some free hiphop instrumentals
audacity is a free voice recording software you could use

just google them, good luck

What is needed for an at home music studio? (with brand names)?

Author: admin Category: Home Music Studio

I am trying to get my boyfriend an at home recording studio for rapping. Does anyone know what brands are good for hip-hop music for mixers and microphones? We already have a computer, what else is needed for a studio?

There are two ways to go. The right way and the cheap way. This is the right way …
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Digidesign-Pro-Tools-Mbox-2-Factory-Package-773407-i1177447.gc
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Roland-SP555-Creative-Sample-Workstation-104625975-i1370049.gc
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Boss-VE-20-Vocal-Effects-Processor-105654529-i1474806.gc

This is the cheep way … http://www.walmart.com/ip/M-Audio-Pro-Tools-Recording-Studio/14123456?sourceid=1500000000000003142050&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=14123456

Pro Tools and BOSS (made by Roland) make the very best state of the art RAP and HIP HOP recording and sequencing tools on the market. There really is no substitute. You need Pro Tools to record with if you want broadcast quality recordings and if you are serious about your sound, then the will eventually require the Roland SP 555. The BOSS VE-20 vocal processor is also a requirement but, on that you can get along without if you are on a budget. Whit this equipment, he will be able to produce broadcast quality music in his home that he could sell on iTune or Amazon.com, CE Baby, Tunecore, or any number of other Internet sites. He could also perform live with it as well but, for that he will also need a good PA system.

how to make my own home Music Recording Studio to record Music n songs?

Author: admin Category: Home Music Studio

the quick answer is you will need a microphone, something to record on and a quiet place. Most home studios are now using software on the computer to record and mix tracks you should be able to find some open source software or shareware to do the trick. The commercial stuff is going to be expensive.

I’ve used my basement, a cheap mic and some software I found a long time ago and I made some really crappy tracks but they were mine, nothing that I would want to share, good for practice. The place where you should spend a good chunk of you money is on the mics and pickups they have got to be of good quality to produce a reasonable product.

What’ll be the best way to record own music album in home studio, a digital multitrack recorder or a software?

Author: admin Category: Home Music Studio

I want to get the idea which way of recording is highest in quality and professional when we want to record and produce a music album in a home studio by using arranger and workstation keyboards.

You have asked the MAGIC question. FIRST you record all of it ON your workstation and THEN record it as LIVE AUDIO track by track INTO a recording studio 16 track (software) on your computer
(And dont tell anyone I told you, its a trade secret!)
IF you record in MIDI (which everyone else is going to tell you to do) BEFORE you can do the mixdown you have to CONVERT the MIDI tracks to AUDIO so you’ll save a LOT of time and effort recording them to audio in the first place.
I personally HATE MIDI and I wont work with it. (Of course I do, if I’m forced too but…) It SOUNDS too mathematical, too presice, not free enough. I can play in real time and record in one track and one take but I’m a VERY experience player. IF you do ALL your tracks ON the workstation as AUDIO and FIX everything on that first and then hit the record on the computer then play on the workstation it all comes out the same! Just remember to record one track at a time (and use the sequencer for each separate part of the song on the workstation eg: intro, verse, chorus…) Recording like this means that I can finishe everything AT HOME then go to the recording studio and get everything done in HOURS instead of Weeks and it saves me so much money its unbelievabe. I once recorded EIGHTEEN complete songs (with vocals) in an eight hour session. It usually takes four days to finish one song any other way!

Next, you need to record in WAV format at 48,000
NO OTHER FORMAT AND NO OTHER SPEED
NEVER move your recorded files to another folder (NOT EVEN ONCE)
Never record higher than 48,000 no matter what the capabilities are of the card/program youre using. (once they’re recorded you CANT change them (I can, you cant)
NEVER EVER EVER CONVERT THESE FILES TO ANY OTHER FORMAT NO MATTER WHAT

There are some things there that you may question, so if you have another question like why cant I record higher than 48,000 ask it, but take my word for it.

Buy the BEST SOUNDCARD that you can afford.
The studio program that you want is CAKEWALK from cakewalk.com
the best 2.1 speakers (ALTEC LANSING ARE AWESOMELY FANTASTICALLY MAGICALLY BRILLIANT!)

Oh yeah, and did I mention I dont use MIDI to record?….
Try doing ONE song like this and I guarantee you’ll never ever do it the way anyone else does ever again.
