I just bought that … I just bought that same VCR for $10.00 on Ebay, but the shipping was $15. I wish I had not tossed my original VCR, which was nearly identical to this.
That model ran for … That model ran for about $450 in the 1986 catalog. Pretty expensive for the time. I have a JVC Linear Stereo VCR from that same era with Dobly NR. Sounds good in SP but as with most every VCR the audio is not much in EP. With the cheap quality of blank tapes these days you almost have to record in SP.
Nice VCR man, I’ve … Nice VCR man, I’ve got the SR3000. I picked it up at Goodwill for $3. All it needed was a little cleaning on the inside and a new belt for the motor. Heavy piece of equipment it is!
my vcr has lines … my vcr has lines but I set the time to now it says the time but som of them have lines some say 12:00 while flashing or say 88:88 like yours
I agree with you. … I agree with you. LP was a good compromise. I have a Panasonic TV made around 2003-2004 that can record in LP, but it’s a piece of crap two head non-HiFi VCR that we never use for recording TV. I only like HiFi VCRs since they don’t lose any audio quality when in EP modes (or LP if you’re lucky). With linear, the lower speed you get, the more your tape sounds like garbage!
When I was little … When I was little our VCR was Fisher. My grandmother had one that looked exactly the same but it was Magnavox! I was made in 1987. I have a Brocksonic (in-house Circuit City brand) VCR from 1996 that can record in LP speed.
HiFi VHS stereo … HiFi VHS stereo sound is better than linear stereo with Dolby B,it is crystal clear with a bigger dynamic range and approaches good CD’s with a lifelike clarity and sound.
I had a Fisher VHS … I had a Fisher VHS from 1987 with the linear tracking audio. Running the audio through a stereo, taped MTV videos sounded good on SP but the sound quality gets worse when you record on LP and EP.
I don’t know why VCR manufacturers got rid of the LP speed. I thought it was a good compromise for picture quality vs how much tape you use.
My parent had a SR … My parent had a SR 2000, it was a great machine, and still worked when they got rid of it. The only annoying thing about it? even a tiny power interupption would make it lose the time AND all channel settings!!!
i wonder why they … i wonder why they dont mak any more dolby stereo vcr any more you can get pro vcr with dolby stereo vcr that vcr is a vhs vcr i seen one like that many years a go at walmart the remote sucked on it ep recorded moted suck also when you fast forwoered on it
I almost forgot … I almost forgot that stereo VCR’s back then got linear audio with Dolby B, I remember playing a Dolby encoded tape in a non dolby capable VCR and the sound was pretty good.
hehe, thanks for … hehe, thanks for the shout outs!
Very nice VCR! I love the VU meter lights on the front. And to add to the Memory button: My 1985 Sony SuperBeta SL-100 had a Tape Return button that does the same thing
This may be a 2- … This may be a 2-head VCR, that’s why the picture’s so bad in pause and in search modes. Additionally people rarely used LP modes so they decided on just SP and EP.
… Memory was used to mark a spot on the tape where they last recorded on so that they can come back to it. It’s often called Zero Search or Blank Search on different VCRs.
that vcr is made by … that vcr is made by sanyo for sears and it has the same sound of my 1986 sanyo i once had and also the clock flashes 88:88. i have couple of old tvs at my dads had. i’ll make a vid of them once i get the chance.

Most Sears-Roebuck VHS decks were made by Hitachi, so this is a unique deck in that it was made by Sanyo.
