Well I actually work with headphones at an electronics store, I would have to say your best bet are for earphones, the Sony Fontopia ones:

Ear buds and in ear are the same thing. The two different types are in ear and earphones, ear phones are your classic ones, in ear actually fit in your ear canal, and they are much better at reducing backround noise, but they can be a bit painful over time. For ear bud ones you again cant really go past Phillips or Sony, though Creative are quite good too. Dont pay more than $50 they dont have a great life span and they arnt really worth it.

Bose actually came out with a pair of noise cancelling ear buds. they have different gel covers for small/bigger ears. they are extremely comfortable and have wonderful bass to them. I must admit they are a bit (Plus usually since they are so expensive, no one wants to buy them and the stores have more of a tendancy to put them on sale!)
