Is the BOSE headphone noise reduction worth it for airlines?

Is the 2 or 3 better? Is a cheaper alternative just as good?

I use the one (not sure of the number) that covers the ears, rather than sits on them. For long distances, they’re the most comfortable.

I swear by them. You can hear your music (and the movie) very well without having to crank up the volume and damage your ears. Even without listening to music, the absence of the annoying plane hiss is very relaxing.

I’ve tried cheaper versions. They don’t fit as well nor work as well in noise reduction.

For me, Bose was well worth the investment.

    I have heard that the cheaper alternatives are just as good. I don’t use either but… I did try on my old roommates’ BOSE-alternatives. They cost him about 1/2 of the BOSE headphones and they seemed to work really well (I did try them on at home). The amount of "noise" they blocked was scary to me!!

    I find earphones uncomfortable while trying to sleep on a plane (and at home). Just get really cheap disposable foam earplugs - available at drug stores.

    the principle of this device has been around for many years. no, bose did not discover it! its based on the algebraic difference of equal signal levels (ie; cancellation) which is valid. if you know a electronic tech he can make it using op-amps. incl a inexpensive headset you should be able to make one for 50-75 bucks. radio shack prob has all the parts. good luck
