Background noise reduction for a party?

We’re having an outdoor party at my house, and we have fence on one side of the yard, but the other side is open to our neighbors. We want to keep the noise down, and were going to hang something on the other side, but we want to do something thats gonna keep the noise down. Any ideas?
Nothing you do outside will help much (including the fence). As your guests become exuberant, their voices will rise. Your absolutely best bet to avoid bothering your neighbours is to go over and visit them this afternoon and extend your personal invitation to them to attend your party - (even if they’re 80 years old and always scowl at you in the yard). If they decline, tell them they are still welcome should they change their minds. Tell them that if your guests get a little too exuberant to please phone and tell you so and that you’ll try to tone them down.
If they come, make them feel welcome. Find them some lawn chairs and introduce them to one or two of your quieter type guests.
Have fun.

Maybe tell your neighbors hey we’re having a get together next door and it’s going to be outdoors of our house, want to join us? That way they know ahead of time and don’t be surprised by it to only find their selves upset. That is what my parents do when they have outdoor parties and majority of the time my neighbors end up coming over to party too. LoL. Try that otherwise there is not really anything to keep the noise down if it is outside. Don’t play loud music outdoors that will have cops showing up for noise violations and piss off your neighbors if they are not the social gathering type. Have the music playing inside just loud enough you can slightly hear it outside. The cover idea is a good idea. Any sound proof machines (the kind psychologist have in front of their offices doors) won’t work because there is nothing covering over your heads, like a roof.

"listen i am having a party and my neighbors will probably call u to say that we are being to loud and noisy, so i wanted to know if you wanted to come as guests… hey u’ll be here anyway now at least you have an invitation."
