Soundproofing - Studio acoustics?
Author: admin Category: Home Studio SoundproofingOk well I am building a home studio in my backyard and I have a neighbor back there. I have some my band likes to practice a lot and we have a drummer who hits hard on the heads (it gets pretty loud.) I'm looking for some soundproofing so it will cut off the sound so we can play daily. What type of acoustics should I be looking for? What site can I buy from? Thanks.
The studio is 12' x 17' no windows and one door. Reg. A-frame.
The professional stuff is expensive, but works the best. Our first attempt at sound proofing worked well. Our bassist worked at a restaurant and their eggs came on flats of 24. We used these flats to cover the walls and it worked great. Probably not much help to you unless you are a cook at a breakfast cafe.

spray in polyurathane foam is great for sound insulation. it's not cheap, but it's worth it. there are several DIY kits available the larger ones will do 600 board feet (1 foot by 1 foot by 1 inch thick. so 50 cubic feet) for about 600 bucks.
my suggestion would be to put this stuf between your studs, and then hang carpet remnants over that.
