Which is better to use for making music in a home music studio, closed or open back headphones?

i have herd that the sound is better with open back but closed back gets rid of any background noise you might be able to hear!!! + DO THEY HAVE TO BE MONITOR HEADPHONES!!!
You can use either type, but most recording engineers prefer closed back types. They really don’t want to hear outside sounds. They want to hear only the output of the recorder or mixer as much as possible.
"Monitor headphones" is more of a marketing thing. Just look for a good professional set - you’ll probably need to spend at least $100 US to get a entry level pair.
The Sony MDR-7506 is a great entry level pro headphone:

Headphones are much better. If it’s loudspeaker, then you won’t be able to hear certain things and you won’t be able to understand it.
