ok in my studio now i have a comp for beats i use fruity loops 6 & i record in nuendo i have a firewire solo interface the mic i use its ok it cost 100.00$ i have a ok booth with carpet on the walls its not to sound proof at all but it works n-e way im trying to upgrade the booth interface & mic with the booth im going to use mdf wood 2 side by side on all the walls thats just to give u an idea on the size & plywood on the inside once i try to insulate it do i need anything else?i need ideas on that a good mic & a interface the mic the most i want to spend on a mic is 500.00 & interface 500.00 & i record rap & r&b thx………
Forget the wood, bro! You made good with the carpet, already. If you don’t like that look anymore, you could go with a painter’s tarp or some thick, cheap, old blankets to drown out the noise…SAVE YOUR CASH. Try to save a little more to get you a decent sound card (preferably external-price range of 200-400 bucks)-VERY IMPORTANT!
You can get away with a real decent mic for around 150-200 bucks and, it will do just fine (Shure, AKG, and Blue are good brands with good deals).
Get this, man… I don’t even have a killer studio, but my beats are tight and the bassline drops! My vocals are good enough… I leave it up to the software/effects after I lay down the tracks & vocals.
As of right now, I’ve experienced with cheap software with semi-pro effects (good enough to make quality CD’s), such as, Acid Music Studio by SONY and Cubase SE by STEINBERG. The Acid Studio only cost less than 70 bucks, but I like it best. It is way too easy to learn, but it has enough effects to tweak out your instruments and vocals to give it a mastered sound. You can burn your own CD’s with it and, there are alot of loops that you can add to your exsisting music or create a whole new entire song.
I use to have an expensive keyboard, mixer, Boss BR8, etc…, but I decided to get a powerful PC under 1500 hundred bucks and go with loops instead of always creating my own stuff-it saves alot of time and the sample beats/basslines are PHAT!
I’m working on film, music and a website at the moment… if you are interested in displaying your music for others to hear (a sample) leave contact info on this post… I’ll check back later and give you details on how/when to go about it……..

an effects processor is something that i would recommend for you to try. some people love them some people don’t. whether you are doing your basic recording or you want to spice something up with a neat effect, it will come in handy. you may very well already have a processor pedal and chances are your recording program has a few effects that you may or may not like? it was worth my effort. messing with reverb levels is something that many recording artists will like to test out on all instruments including your voice.
do you have a pop blocker on your mic? that’s a simple thing that chances are you know and have but hey i try
