Im about to start a home studio for music production and Im stuck between the iMac and the hp touch.?
Author: admin Category: Home Music StudioWhich one is better and more reliable. Im stuck PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Two things:
1. What’s your budget?
2. What programs are you looking at using.
You should know the answers to these questions BEFORE you spend any money at all.
You say iMac. Is it an iMac or a MacPro/Macbook(Pro)? If it’s an iMac, don’t waste your moulah or time, as they’re becoming more and more obselete.
MacPros are generally considered the industry standard right now, but they come at a cost. But they run ProTools - again, industry standard, and don’t need a designated sound card, as the RAM is directed accordingly. Macs also come with GarageBand preinstalled as part of the iLife package, which can save you in set-up costs.
Personally, I don’t really trust Windows based machines for creating, though they are getting better. I’m biased however, as I’ve been using Apples for as long as I can remember - about 20 years.
Very definately, do your research into the products you may want to use. Most retailers have demo stock that you can tryout in store to get a feel for it.
I personally recomend a new MacPro with an Mbox and ProTools as a basic set up. You’ll also need to figure in mics (vocal/instrument), cables, soundproofing, possibly a mixing desk down the track, burning software. It’s not cheap.
Good luck with it all though. Keep us posted on progress?
