It translates 16 …
It translates 16 channels of ADAT optical inputs and outputs to Firewire so that you can use them with Pro Tools or another DAW.

If you have the …
If you have the space and the band is practiced up and ready, id say record the band together, that way the band works off eachothers energy(good performanc) If you have a small recording spot you can multitrack.. I do both depending on the setting and they both work great!!

I remember reading …
I remember reading about several Christians bands that did that, although I don’t remember which albums it were mentioned. I do remember that I didn’t like those CD’s as much as the ones they produced the traditional way, though.

The first thing I …
The first thing I always make is a click track to get the tempo locked in. Then, on top of that, I record a rough run-through of the song to serve as a template for the rest. From there on out, I’d go rhythm section first. But different people do it different ways…

Also, do you have …
Also, do you have an examples of bands that record the band all at once for a studio album?

Thanks! I think I’d …
Thanks! I think I’d record drums first, then bass, then the two guitars, then vocals. What do you think? I don’t have space to record the whole band, and I only have one iMac with one input.

There’s no one …
There’s no one right way to do it. For a live recording, you do record everything at once (and add to or correct parts later in the studio). For a studio album, it’s most common to record things separately, although there are those that record the band all at one in different rooms of the studio time to get a more organic feel.

So you’re supposed …
So you’re supposed to record the whole band together? Not one at a time? What about the vocals? Are they recorded with the band, or are they recorded over the instrumental parts? Thanks!

yah ok um. it shows …
yah ok um. it shows that its picking up the sound so it can record. when you record you have to click record botton next to your track, and you also have to click the other record button at the top. and when they are both flashing red, press play and it will record :]

Make sure you have …
Make sure you have the right inputs routed the right tracks in Pro Tools. And, of course, make sure you have set start and stop points to allow your recording to fully complete. Without seeing your situation, that’s the only things I can think of.

I’d ask that …
I’d ask that question directly to M-Audio if I were you. We only use ours for multi-track recording of a worship service. I’ve never done much else with it. I use a ProjectMix I/O for overdubs or a Fast Track Pro when on the road.

Hi, I’m about to …
Hi, I’m about to buy a Lightbridge for my studio. Does it support ASIO 2.0? What is the latency like? I mean… are you able to play virtual instruments or monitor your ITB mix with a very low latency?
I’m currently running an E-MU 1212m through ADAT into a Behringer DDX3216 and I can have a latency as low as 5 ms without forcing the CPU. I plan to use the Lightbridge with 2 or more Fostex VC-8 converters and an analog board.

Thanks! And the great thing about that setup is that it works with other DAWs too. Just this morning, we ran it with a beta version of Propellerheads Record.

Whoops. I …
Whoops. I accidentally deleted a comment. Someone asked if the Axiom 49 works with Pro Tools. I don’t have any personal experience with it, but just about any MIDI keyboard can be used to control its soft instruments. I definitely wouldn’t recommend using it as a replacement for a control surface like the M-Audio Projectmix I/O, though.

It can be expanded …
It can be expanded in slot 3 to include ADAT. I don’t know the total number of channels that would be available in/out. But, in theory, it should work. Just ask a knowledgable salesperson before placing any order.

I have no personal …
I have no personal experience with it, but you should be able to use two MY16AT cards in your M7CL to feed 32 channels into the ProFire Lightbridge and then record all 32 in ProTools M-Powered 8. At least, that’s what some other people on the Web have been saying. Check with Digidesign and a trusted salesperson, though, before laying down the big bucks. Also, remember that it’ll take a really good PC and external HD to record 32 channels at once.

Hi thanks for the great video!
I am looking to purchase a similar setup for my church. We have a Yamaha M7CL board. Is there a way to get more than 16 channels out of the Yamaha onto lightbridge?
