Home music studio owners: Do you still need upgraded pc sound card if already buying external midi interface?

Author: admin Category: Home Music Studio

If I buy a decent enough external midi interface (which will be connected via usb port), do I also need to get a more "professional" sound card for my computer, or will the regular one (dell) computers come with do? Also, which would be a good midi interface to get? I’d like something with two midi-in ports, a mic-in port, and works well with cubase giving little to no latency.

If you plan to record midi’s I would suggest getting a great sound sound along with an analog/digital interface.

As far a suggestion M-Audio is an excellent choice. Way better than your Dell.

You may want to get a better sound card simply for the reason of play back (since most of your recording will go through the USB). I recommend a 7.1 surround sound capable media card.
