There are tons of brands out, but If you're going to be doing computer-based recording, I recommend looking at M-Audio gear for your audio interface. M-Audio delivers both professional quality and makes products for every price range. M-Audio audio interfaces are also compatible with Pro Tools M-Powered ( http://www.homerecorder.com/product.php?pid=64 ), so you can use this Industry Standard recording software in your studio. Plus, Pro Tools M-Powered is session compatible with other Pro Tools systems like Pro Tools LE and HD. You can also find some nice bundles from M-Audio ( http://www.homerecorder.com/products.php?cid=4&s=10&np=3&sort= ) that include software, studio monitors, and an audio interface. Home Recorder (http://www.homerecorder.com ), also lets you put together a custom studio bundle that fits your needs.

Also if you're not sure what elements you need to put together a home studio, check out "How to Build a Home Recording Studio ( http://www.homerecorder.com/product.php?pid=124 ).

Hope this helps!
References :
http://www.homerecorder.com
