Thrust SSC | SSC | Thrust SSC : Breaking The Sound Barrier
Author: admin Category: 5
A Short Video of the Thrust SSC. Thrust SSC broke the sound barrier back in October 15, 1997. It achieved a speed of 1,228 km/h (763 mph) and the SSC became the first land vehicle to officially break the sound barrier. Thrust SSC also has the the manned land speed record under its belt and has not been beaten to this day.
The twin engines developed a thrust of 223 kN (50,000 lbf) and burned around 4 Imperial gallons per second (18.2 l/s or 4.8 US gallons/s).

Good clip. But I find it hard to believe that “Parce Mihi Domine” was used as the background music for it. A better music selection might not be so distracting, not to mention appropriate.

Ya, you can …
Ya, you can actually see the car breaking through the sound barrier, if you look closely, you can see the shock wave on the ground on either side of the car, and just before it breaks the barrier, the shock wave disappears.

So, even traveling …
So, even traveling at a speed slower than light through the sphere he may still travel to the other point faster than light across the surface of the sphere. Thus, relative to two-dimensional space, he has traveled faster than light between the two points, without violating the universal constant of light.
July 19th, 2009
Basically, you …
Basically, you cannot TRAVEL faster than the speed of light in fourth dimensional space-time, but you can move between those same points faster than the speed of light in another dimension. Think of a two dimensional person on a sphere. He must get to the other side of the sphere. Being two dimensional, he must walk half the circumference to get to the other point. If you introduce another dimension to his world, depth, he can tunnel through the sphere, traveling only the diameter of the sphere.
July 19th, 2009
Interestingly …
Interestingly enough, in higher-dimensional physics, it’s entirely possible to move between two points in fourth dimensional space-time faster than the speed of light, but you must move in a fourth spatial dimension to do so. It is impossible to move at or past the speed of light when using light itself as the point of relativity. Even if you are going 99.99999% the speed of light, light still leaves at 299,792,458 m/s because it is a constant, regardless of relativity.

For “ac24z”! Discovery, The History Channel etc all may have done a featured version or something but the official full documentary was made by the BBC titled “The Mission”; probably because the car was is British built. It is super hard to find but does pop up on ebay every now and then. If you want, get an ebay account if you don’t already have one, search for it by name and if it doesn’t come up then you can add that specific search to your “Favorite Searches” and the second anyone puts one up for sale or auction then you’ll get an instant email sent to your registered email address!
