the 4 P’s. …
the 4 P’s. practice - patients - persistance - perfection (relatively speaking).
I right of passage!
Their is no failing in pottery. only growth, as painful as it seems. it’s a beautiful thing.

The videos this …
The videos this week seem to be a direct reflection of my experiences. I was having a of a time throwing this week and threatened to quit (as I do sometimes when it gets hard) but I kept practicing and made it through to the peaceful side. It’s wonderful! Well worth the . Also while I was practicing I had a thought about making multiple bellies on a pot and the next day the double bellied vase video was uploaded! Funny how that happens!

Well it’s not …
Well it’s not throwing , it’s glazing I am going through. I hate to load the kiln and fire. It seems as if there is always a new glaze defect . So thank you for the encouragement, I will look to the day when the glaze firing goes well. Surely it will happen one day?

Hi Simon, your words seem to be in tune with my life as it is now; I have always enjoyed the quote and would often tell my friends it is no good to stop when youre in “hell”. However, I often forget to listen to my own advice so thank you for sharing such encouraging words and informing me were the words came from.

while you were explaining the sound barrier thing I couldn’t help thinking that maybe I was afraid to push what I know a little further. I tend to be restrained because of my clay supply, not much room for disaster.

My niece and I …
My niece and I really struggled today with raku firing. I tried to make turquoise bowls. I wanted them to burn black on the unglazed parts, but stay oxidized. All of them went bright copper and even red like ox blood. We also mixed glaze with photo developer (silver nitrate I thought). It gave a strange yellowish colour. Not bad with the black, but not as striking as your raku. Well, we´ll have to get on the wheel and throw some new items to raku fire. A smokey Ase in Sweden
