That question will just have to go unanswered. The Air Force still has never declassified the top speed of the SR-71. The Foxbat is, supposedly, capable of just a hair over mach 3. I’m pretty sure they never caught any of the probable SR-71 overflights. Well, none that the American people have been told of anyway.

?Why do people insist on continuing the discussion? We already know that it is an F-14!

I think the F-111 thing was for

The SR71 was also designed as a fighter. It was called the YF-12(?). The Phoenix missile was used as it’s primary armament. This was long before the F-14 was anything but a sketch.

F-111 isn’t even a fighter jet. it’s a supersonic bomber.
The Foxbat was the fastest fighter yeah.
but the SR71 was way faster. But it wasn’t a fighter..
