Is there something similar to the sound barrier at the speed of light?
Author: admin Category: 5Were it possible to go faster than light-speed would you ride the crest of some kind of wave similar to that experienced at the sound barrier?
Well, the universe is expanding in which the velocity of 2 objects is proportional to Hubble’s Constant and the distance between the 2 objects. That means that things a certain distance from us are receding from us faster than light and their light will never reach us. Therefore, since light travels in all directions we can say that there is a light barrier in our universe. We call this Hubble’s radius or the visible universe.

No, the sound barrier and the light-speed "barrier" are competely different. The sound barrier was only a technological problem that was overcome with technology. The speed of light is a universal constant, a physical law of the universe, and there is no technological fix for it. As you approach the speed of light, you become heavier and heavier and flatter and flatter in the direction of motion. You can’t get all the way to the speed of light because it would take an infinite amount of energy to make you infinitely massive and infinitely flat. There isn’t an infinite amount of energy in the whole universe.
