Is there something similar to the sound barrier at the speed of light?

Author: admin Category: 5

Were it possible to go faster than light-speed would you ride the crest of some kind of wave similar to that experienced at the sound barrier?

Well, the universe is expanding in which the velocity of 2 objects is proportional to Hubble’s Constant and the distance between the 2 objects. That means that things a certain distance from us are receding from us faster than light and their light will never reach us. Therefore, since light travels in all directions we can say that there is a light barrier in our universe. We call this Hubble’s radius or the visible universe.

do you use noise reduction on your camera if available? (at higher ISO’s)?

Author: admin Category: Noise Reduction

and should you in low light photography for example?

here is the thing- when you use the in camera noise reduction, you have to wait for it to process for as long as whatever your shutter speed is. if you are shooting at 1/120th then thats how long you will have to wait after you take the picture, but if you are taking a 10s exposure then your actual exposure will take 20s. also, the reason why you get noise is because of heat on the sensor, and so as I found out the other night of a shoot, the longer your exposure, and the longer you spend taking pictures at one time the heavier your noise will be and the noise reduction wont do much anyways ( so if you are taking 10 second exposures you can bet that after the 30th 10 second exposure you will see more noise than on the first exposure.

also the noise reduction is throwing info out of your image and that is always bad to let your camera do. the very best thing is to learn MANUAL techniques to fix it in photoshop, OR learn to love it like we used to love film grain.

I have noisy neighbors and I hear them all night through my bedroom window. I have some styrofoam insulation panels and wonder if that would make a good sound barrier if I cut them to fit inside and outside my window.

what is a good color for painting a recording studio?

Author: admin Category: Home Studio Soundproofing

i want to re-do my in home "recording studio" and i’m not sure what color i should paint it, im going to be putting up soundproofing foam, but i wanna paint the walls before, what color do you think would look best?

If you are aiming for a contemporary feel, then use bold colors such as reds or oranges teamed with a heavily contrasting color like black or silver to give an edgy modern look. For a blues or mellower theme, choose lighter more soothing earth tones, like muted greens or blues. :)

What is DNR, aka, Digital Noise Reduction?

Author: admin Category: Noise Reduction

Okay, so I just bought a 1080p HDTV. There’s a setting in the menu called "DNR." I tried looking up info over what it is. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s "Digital Noise Reduction." From what I’ve researched though, no site offers a clear explanation over what it really does. Does anyone know what this setting is really for? I can set it from "off," to "low" all the way to "high."

It helps remove noise, mostly in old analog cable signals.
Unless you still have analog cable, set it to off or low.

If price is a problem, I’ll go with a PC. In fact, both cases I’ll go with a PC. Why? You’ll find great free software out there, PC is cheaper, many upgrading alternatives. If you want to upgrade a Mac, you’ll have to buy a new one. So…

can the speed of a washing machine break the sound barrier?

Author: admin Category: 5

random question. i was just doing laundry, and my washer was spinning at a very high un-normal speed. i was wondering if the speed of a spin cycle could break the sound barrier if cycle was spinnig at a very high un-normal spped?

I suppose it could if the motor was powerful enough. I guess if you could get it to spin that fast there would be no need to dry them.
